Century Honored in Michigan Manufacturer of the Year Award Program

William Janis, owner and CEO of Century, Inc. was honored with the John G. Thodis Michigan Manufacturer of the Year Award, presented by the Michigan Manufacturers Association (MMA). This award program recognizes Michigan Manufacturers’ exemplary contributions to the industry and their communities. Mr. Janis received his award at the MMA’s annual Legislative & Executive Reception at the Country Club of Lansing on May 10, 2005.

Century was presented with the Finalist award in the small tier category, which honors companies with fewer then 500 employees. Mr. Janis stated that he and the divisions of Century, Inc.: Century Specialties, Century Extruders/3+, Century Sun Metal Treating, and Century Rollforming, have focused on product and market diversification to ensure the company’s continued success for over 30 years. The company provides tooling, products and services to customers in the automotive, nuclear energy, plastics, food processing and furniture industries, among other sectors.

"With strong leadership and foresight into diversifying his business to weather cyclical challenges, William Janis has created a strong economic contributor for the Traverse City community and the State of Michigan," said John MacIllroy, MMA President and CEO. In addition to his business ventures, Mr. Janis also contributes his personal time and funding to many community organizations, including, but not limited to Northwestern Michigan College, Traverse City Michigan Technical Education Center, the National Cherry Festival, and Munson Medical Center.
